It’s easy to have a jumbled looking cork board (hence, the one currently in my childhood bedroom).
I recently came across some great and inspirational cork boards on Pinterest to keep in mind for my next cork board endeavor.
Check them out:
My favorite blog, cupcakes and cashmere, posted this manifesto yesterday afternoon. While it may be a little late for a New Year’s resolution, I’m going to try to stick to this from now on.
I recently came across this website – madebygirl.com. The shop is fun and amazingly affordable.
I have been eyeing up prints for my apartment for the past few months, and finally came across some that are at a reasonable price point for my recent grad budget.
Here are my favorites -
I could spend hours and hours browsing blogs online, whether they’re about fashion, travel, beauty, fitness, food… I could read them all. When I was young, I used to have stacks of magazines all over my room. My mom used to make me throw out the old ones on a regular basis so the shelf I had them on wouldn’t collapse. Yeah, that’s how many magazines I had.
Today, I still buy magazines, but I find that reading a blog, that is uploaded daily and sometimes even multiple times a day, can be just as fun.
I have a few blogs that I actively look forward to their daily updating. Here’s my list…
1. cupcakesandcashmere.com – This blog is my absolute favorite, my number 1. I even bought the book the blogger, Emily Schuman, wrote a few months ago and love that too. She posts about fashion, entertaining, food and beauty and I love every second of it. For anyone who likes anything girly, this blog is for you.
2. theglitterguide.com – Well, I guess this one is pretty girly too (it is named the glitter guide). It is updated multiple times a day which makes it feel even more like a magazine and encompasses posts on fashion, beauty, lifestyle, shopping and trends. Their instagram is pretty awesome too.
3. refinery29.com – This blog is pretty similar to theglitterguide in the sense that it is updated multiple times a day. Refinery 29 discusses fashion, beauty, entertainment, etc. but also discusses media news, like who is gracing the cover of Vanity Fair.
Those are my three go-to blogs for all things girly. I live for their updates each morning.
As I’ve said before, I love Etsy. I love that browsing the website feels like sorting through your favorite one-of-a-kind shop downtown. I love that, unlike most of my favorite websites to browse, I can actually afford most of the things on the site.
Here’s my current Etsy wishlist…
Etsy seriously has everything I need. A few Etsy touches to my apartment and wardrobe is just what I’m looking for.
The other day, I walked into my boyfriend’s house in my I-need-to-do-laundry work outfit. He looked at me and said, “you look like someone in the future who is trying to dress really cool but missing the mark.”
Wow. Okay. I guess I’m never wearing my (workout) leggings to work again. But maybe that’s a good thing.
I then started asking him things he likes and doesn’t like that I, and other women, wear.
Here’s what he said…
“I don’t get it, just wear jeans!”
5. Big Belts
I don’t agree with him on wedges, I’ve seen some BEAUTIFUL wedges and I’ve seen some cute rompers. But, basically the rest of this list I agree with.
I love fall. I love pumpkin flavored treats, scarves, cardigans, my fall coat and watching the leaves change. Every year, I’m amazed by how beautiful the foliage is.
Living in Philadelphia, I don’t get to see much of the beauty of fall in the city. Some of the leaves change a bit, but mostly just go from green to brown to bare trees.
But the other day, my boyfriend and I went to a huge, 9,000+ acre park in Philadelphia called Fairmount Park and took some autumnal photos to edit using Instagram, one of my favorite apps on my iPhone. Instagram can honestly make anything look cool.
Filter: Amaro, with a slight blur (sorry about the midriff)
Filter: Lo-fi, with a slight blur
My favorite filter for fall photos is definitely lo-fi, it brings out the reds, greens and yellows of the leaves and makes them pop against the clear sky. The trees and leaves at Fairmount Park were already beautiful, but it’s amazing how much a little filter and blur call add.
Since I have a very limited budget, inexpensive and easily made decorations are what currently fill my apartment.
Something that I want to add to my bedroom is a banner. I’ve seen banners all over Pinterest and other blogs. I love the versatility of them and the fact that you can literally string whatever shapes, colors or quotes you want across a piece of string or ribbon. It’s an easy decoration that you can easily adjust to your own taste.
Here are a few of my favorites that I’ve seen while browsing the internet —
I will definitely be making a banner this weekend, they’re so quick, affordable and cute!
I’m kind of a Lauren Conrad fangirl. I watched every episode of Laguna Beach and then The Hills, and ever since her departure from The Hills I have followed her fashion endeavors, her beauty endeavors and her blog.
Since her reality television career ended, she has established two successful clothing lines. The first, LC Lauren Conrad, features reasonably priced clothing, shoes and accessories at Kohls stores nationwide. Her other line, Paper Crown, features more expensive, whimsical pieces.
As much as I wish I did, I don’t own any Paper Crown items, but I do own a few things from her LC Lauren Conrad line.
Here are a few of my favorites from the most recent collections from Paper Crown and LC Lauren Conrad.
I love the bow detail on this skirt. Plus, the skirt is perfect for a day at the office.
Love this unique take on a sweater dress!
Simple and relaxed.
This one isn’t available yet, but will be available in time to be the perfect New Year’s dress.

On my way home from work, I noticed a new cafe a few blocks from my apartment. I went in and was blown away by how cute it is and wondered how I hadn’t noticed it before. Turns out, they opened on September 1st which is why I am only noticing it now.
It’s called Magpie and is an artisan pie boutique in Philadelphia. I then realized that there are hardly any dessert shops that only sell pie. Cupcakes and fro yo are all the rage, but pie is often left out of the loop. Magpie sells slices, but also takes orders for entire pies. I guess I know where I’m getting my next birthday…pie. I had a slice of the Chocolate Cinnamon Coffee Pecan pie and was blown away. I now have to try each pie on their menu.
Not only do they have sweet pies, but they have savory pies too. What’s better than pie in the colder months? Nothing!
I’m so excited to have this pie boutique mere blocks from my apartment.
