Cork Board Inspiration

It’s easy to have a jumbled looking cork board (hence, the one currently in my childhood bedroom).

I recently came across some great and inspirational cork boards on Pinterest to keep in mind for my next cork board endeavor.

Check them out:

Wedding Fashion

I have been invited to my first wedding! I’ve been to weddings in the past, but those were all family or family friend’s weddings. For the first time, I will be attending my friend’s wedding. I’m so excited!

The wedding isn’t until June, which means it will be an early summer wedding (perfect dress weather). I probably won’t actually get a dress for the wedding until May, but I’m excited to think about the possibilities. I don’t really know guest-of-wedding-dress-etiquette, but I figure as long as I stay away from anything white or too short, I should be good.

Any excuse to buy a new dress is good for me, and I don’t get to go to events that require new dresses too often, so this will be a nice change.

Classic Items That I Should Have in my Wardrobe

Every time I see certain items, I wish I had them in my wardrobe. I don’t know why I haven’t just purchased these items yet, but I haven’t.
This past weekend, I did indulge in one item I have been eyeing up for months… bright jeans. I bought a pair (in brilliant cobalt) from the J.Crew outlet.
My list of clothing that I want is never-ending, but if I had to pick a few items for the top of my list…

I Wish I Liked to Cook

I really wish I liked cooking. It would make my life so much easier. I find myself putting off making dinner in hopes of an unexpected invite out (I’m not talking anywhere fancy, I could always go for some pizza) or an invite to someone’s (ahem, my boyfriend’s) house for dinner.

I can cook the basics. Canned soup, Kraft Mac and Cheese… just kidding.

But really, I can cook pasta, chicken, your typical vegetables… but beyond that, I’m useless. Every New Year’s Eve, I vow “this year I will learn how to cook!” and it never happens.

Occasionally, I’ll try something new. I made shrimp tacos about a month ago, and they were FINE, but just FINE. Nothing I ever make is great. Plus, they took me forever to make because I was so worried about messing up the recipe!

Basically, what I’m doing here is vowing to the blogosphere that I will learn how to cook. I’m going to cook simple dishes for dinner and blog about them. So, hold me to it. Please.

And, I’ll start with these recipes…

Buffalo Ranch Chicken Pasta

Stacked Roasted Vegetable Enchiladas

BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

Fettuccine Alfredo

Letterpress Crush

I recently moved into a new apartment in Philadelphia. Ever since my move, I have been trying to figure out the best ways to decorate my first “big girl” apartment without forcing myself into debt.

My search has brought prints to my attention. They’re all over Etsy, Pinterest and a few of my favorite blogs. Many of my favorites are letter pressed prints with simple phrases or a lone illustration.

I definitely have a slight print obsession, but have yet to purchase one.

I love their versatility. As shown in the pictures below, they can be simply strung on a piece of string, or mounted on the wall with a heavy frame.

Since they are definitely not cheap, my plan is to buy a few that I really like, and use the inspiration I get from other prints to create my own. They may not look quite as flawless, but I imagine I can still do a pretty good job while sticking to my tight budget.

Hello, Fall!

I have been informed (by numerous people) that my favorite drink is back at Starbucks, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. To me, this truly symbolizes the beginning of fall. I love summer, but there’s something exciting about breaking out my favorite cardigans and boots and welcoming the cooler temperatures. This fall, I’m excited to expand my cooler temperature wardrobe with some of these pieces:

Tobi – Black Hearts Blouse

Perfect with a pair of black tights.

Beth Bowley Zig Zag Skirt

I desperately need/want a pair of black jeans.

You can never have too many cardigans.

Fall fashion is my favorite fashion. Not only can I wear all of my favorite summer dresses with cardigans, tights and boots, but I can break out my moccasins, fall jackets and chunky scarves while sipping on a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

My Favorite Ring

Image

I’ve never been a huge ring girl until recently when I fell in love with this ring I found on Etsy.com. It’s from a shop called WireNameMike, and I literally wear it every day.

Not only is it my new favorite ring, it was my first Etsy purchase. I now peruse Etsy daily and am never disappointed.

Now, I want to add to my ring collection with these…

If you can’t tell, I’m a fan of gold rings.

Multi-Colored Nails

What I love about painting my nails is that I can be as crazy and rash as I want, because I know that in a few days the polish will be chipping off and I’ll be moving onto my next color. That being said, when I first saw the multi-colored nail trend, I was hesitant. It reminded me of my middle school rainbow nails, but with further consideration, I figured out that the multi-colored nail trend is actually a grown up version of my favorite way to wear nail polish in middle school.

The key (for me, at least) is to stick to colors that are similar. So, coral and red or orange and magenta, for example.

I’ve been wearing Bazooka by Essie on my pointer finger and pinky, and Clambake by Essie on my other fingers for weeks and am still in love with the combo.
